Consignment
Placing your consignments in the care of The Secret Kingdom is a wonderfully simple way to sell your goods for profit! We love the green effect that consignments offer. Keeping quality items out of the landfills and into someone else's home is a good deed done well! The karma you reap is some newfound cash at hand, cleared space to think and free space for new artistic creations to be let in! So let go of the old in with the new! This is how our consignment process works:
For consignment, The Secret Kingdom desires high end, unique, in-demand antiques, vintage, one of a kind, designer name brands and architectural pieces, in great condition or just plain “cool.”
Perfect Time to Consign
If you are thinking about remodeling, changing your style, moving, downsizing, have been given an awesome item that you just don't use or wear, need some extra cash or more free space and air to breathe…or just deciding that the hoarding is done...we are here for you! Go through your goodies. Make a list of items you’re interested in consigning. Pictures are also very helpful. Then come in to our store and see what is selling, and at what prices, and decide if you would be happy with 40% of the ticket price for which your consignment could sell. If that idea makes you smile…read on for the business details in consignments!
Rules and Tips:
First and foremost, please make an appointment to meet with one of our stylists or buyers. This policy serves our friends in the store with a rewarding shopping experience free from distractions, allowing our stylist to devote time to their purchasing needs. (Something you will really appreciate once your items are on the floor.) Appointments also allow us to take time in reviewing possible consignments and thoroughly reviewing rules and procedures with you.

High-End Clothing, Jewelry and Vintage Accessories
Clothing that is high-end works better as a consignment than a trade for store credit, as consignments are priced higher due to quality and name value. Consignments must be in “top quality” shape…no rips, stains or wrinkles. They must be freshly laundered and free of cigarette smoke and animal hair. FOR CONSIGNERS UNDER 18 YEARS OLD, you must bring in a parent with a valid ID.
Agreements and Rules In Consignment Contracts
Consignments are typically agreed to be in our shop for 90 days. If they have not sold within that time frame, you may be given the option to sign another contract. (This is done only when we strongly feel the item will sell.) In this case, another contract would be signed and agreed upon, often with a mark down from the initial asking price. At the end of your initial or renewed consignment period should the store feel the consignment will not sell due to season/demand/asking price or there is no longer store space available, a renewal of contract will not be offered. Upon expiration of consignment period, items must be picked up no later than 10 days after the end of the consignment period. After the 10th day, the property will be removed from the shop.
Keep in mind we do not have a storage facility so most likely your consignment will be donated to charity or given to someone in need. Should you decide you would rather not pick up unsold consignments, please personally initial the appropriate boxes on the contract during initial drop off. (We will still call you at the end of your contract to notify you of the consignment period’s closing.) Please keep in mind that it is you – the consignee – that is responsible for picking up their consignments in a timely manner. Please be sure to update the shop with any contact information that may change during the course of the contract period. We will do our best to contact you via phone to remind you that your consignment period is ending, so that you may make arrangements to pick up your items, preferably before or after business hours. Please be considerate and plan to have your unsold consignments picked up prior to the grace period. An appointment is required to pick up items along with a valid picture ID and consignment paperwork.
During the contract and consignment drop-off you can decide if The Secret Kingdom can mark your items down from the starting sales price to help it sell. This would be agreed upon by initialing the appropriate box in the contract. Often an overpriced ticket is the only reason consignments are left on floor at the end of the consignment period. Please understand that the shop benefits from a higher asking price so we too are working to sell high quality items at values that both the consigner and buyer are pleased with!
